Two-Day Workshop on "Recent Advances in Ayurveda and Medicinal Plants Research"

A two-day workshop on "Recent Advances in Ayurveda and Medicinal Plants Research" was successfully conducted on 27th – 28th February 2025 at the Extension and Training Division of KSCSTE-KFRI, Peechi, Thrissur. The event, organized for Ayurveda Doctors across Kerala, was funded by the State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB), Kerala. 31 Ayurveda doctors from various districts participated in this enriching program to enhance their understanding of contemporary research in Ayurveda and medicinal plants.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Kannan C. S. Warrier, Director of KFRI, who emphasized the importance of combining traditional knowledge with modern research to advance the field of Ayurveda and medicinal plant science. Dr. O. L. Pius, Junior Scientific Officer at SMPB, Kerala, warmly welcomed the participants and dignitaries, setting the stage for a productive and collaborative event.
Dr. T. K. Hrideek, CEO of SMPB, Kerala, presided over the workshop, highlighting the role of SMPB in supporting scientific advancements and research in medicinal plants across the state. The event also saw the felicitation of participants by Sri. K. V. Govindhan, Executive Member of SMPB, Kerala and the State Biodiversity Board, Kerala, acknowledged the collaborative efforts for the progress of Ayurveda and medicinal plant research.
The concluding session featured a vote of thanks by Dr. A. V. Raghu, Principal Scientist at KFRI, who expressed gratitude to all speakers, participants, and organizers for making the workshop a success. The event was hailed as a significant step in bridging the gap between traditional Ayurveda practices and the latest scientific developments in the field of medicinal plants.
This workshop marks a crucial milestone in fostering knowledge exchange among Ayurveda professionals and researchers, ultimately contributing to the growth of Kerala's rich heritage in medicinal plants and Ayurveda.
