KFRI Launches Three-Day Training Program for Scheduled Tribes as Part of Kudumbashree Special Project


The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE)-Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), through its Extension and Training Division, has initiated a Three-Day Training Program as part of the Kudumbashree - State Poverty Alleviation Mission's Special Project for Scheduled Tribes in Thrissur. The program, running from March 17 to 19, 2025, is being conducted at the Extension and Training Division, KFRI, Peechi.

The training program is specifically designed for Animators and Neighborhood Group (NHG) Members from tribal communities, aiming to empower them through knowledge and skills that will help improve their livelihoods. The inaugural session saw enthusiastic participation from attendees, who engaged in productive discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.

The focus of the program is to foster sustainable livelihood initiatives, with a special emphasis on enhancing the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities in the region. The sessions cover a wide range of topics, including eco-friendly practices, forest-based livelihood options, and capacity-building strategies for community development. Through this initiative, KFRI seeks to equip participants with the tools they need to foster sustainable development in their communities, ultimately contributing to poverty alleviation and the empowerment of tribal populations in Thrissur. 

The program is part of a broader effort to create long-term solutions for the challenges faced by Scheduled Tribes in the area. The training program reflects KFRI’s ongoing commitment to supporting community development and sustainability, particularly in rural and tribal regions.
