Tree Mortality Network

International Tree Mortality Network (ITMN) an initiative of International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) to facilitate collaboration between scientists to combine expertise, knowledge and data, thereby allowing a global assessment of tree mortality and providing crucial information for forest managers and policymaking.

ITMN bring together the global community to:

  • quantify trends in tree mortality rates globally
  • attribute the causes of tree mortality
  • accurately predict tree mortality trends

KFRI long-term monitoring programme, especially the 10 ha. plot in tropical wet evergreen forests of Sholayar become part of this global network and this will facilitate collaboration between other institutes in the same field, sharing and exchange of data and contributing towards global assessment of tree mortality in climate change scenario.
