Dr. Sreekumar V B has years of research experience in the field of floristics, plant systematics, phylogenetics, genetic diversity assessments and long term changes in phenology and seed dispersal of angiosperms. He had undertaken projects supported by DST SERB (Dipterocarps), UNDP and Forest Department. He is an expert member (Technical Advisory Committee on Bamboo and Rattan: INBAR Task Force on Rattan Uses and Development, Bejing, China.

Focused areas: General floristics, Plant systematics and phyloclimatic studies, Phenology & Seed Dispersal.

  • PhD from Calicut University on “Systematics and Phylogenetics of rattans in the Western Ghats’.
  • More than 17 years of research experience in the field of floristics, plant systematics, phylogenetics, genetic diversity assessments and long term changes in phenology and seed dispersal of angiosperms.
  • Undertaken projects supported by DST SERB (Dipterocarps), UNDP and Forest Department.
  • Actively involved in field oriented projects in tropical forests of the Western Ghats, northeastern India and Andaman & Nicobar Islands in connection with palms and bamboos and published "A field guide to the Palms of India" in 2011.
