Dr. T. Surendran

Dr. T Surendran, Scientist F, Tree Physiology Department, Sustainable Forest Management Division, superannuated from service on 31 January 2012 after 33 years of service in KFRI. He joined KFRI as Scientist in 1979. His major activities in the Institute includes, Studies on tree improvement of Eucalyptus for disease resistance and higher productivity, effect of fire on forest soils vegetation and timber value in India, improvement of productivity of eucalypts and acacias, clonal propagation of plus trees of teak (Tectona grandis) for multiplication of superior trees, vegetative propagation of selected teak clones for improvement of planting stock and also of selected medicinal plants. He was instrumental in setting up the Tree health helpline for the State of Kerala and establishment of a Bamboosetum at KFRI Campus, Peechi
