Abstract

Many new and interesting plants have been reported from Silent Valley after the publication of Flora of Silent Valley in 1988 and Flora of Palghat District including Silent Valley National Park in 1990. The present paper reports 34 species of flowering plants not included in the above two publications. They were collected from a 200 hectare Medicinal Plant Conservation Area (MPCA) near Sairandhri and during a trip to Sispara in Silent Valley. They included species like Embelia gardneriana, Hedyotis hirsutissima, Nostolachma crassifolia and Murdannia lanceolata placed under threat categories
