Achroia grisella is reported for the first time as a seed pest of bamboo reed, Ochlandra ebracteata, in natural forest stands in Kerala, India. The larvae of this insect tunnelled irregular cavities in the fleshy pericarp of fresh seeds lying on the forest floor. Feeding by this insect often injured the embryo inside.
