Factors which affect the suitability for furniture of bamboo species available in Kerala are discussed. A wider range of furniture can be made from a combination of bamboo and wood. Rubberwood [Hevea brasiliensis] is also suitable for this purpose. Both bamboo and rubberwood require preservative treatment against borers
