A pair of common peafowl (a male and a female) is commonly sighted near Sungam watch tower area. This pair must have moved from the adjacent area of Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary of Tamil Nadu where it is normally seen in some parts. The reasons for its disappearance and reappearance after about eleven years remain obscure
