Abstract
Hevea brasilliensis, the para rubber tree, is primarily grown for latex. The tree, after its economic life, is felled for replanting the area and it becomes a valuable source of timber. A number of uses has been already found for effective utilization of rubber wood. H. brasiliensis has substituted many other species hitherto used in many applications. Susceptibility to fungal and insect attack may limit the utilization potential of rubber wood. However, if rubber wood is treated with preservative chemicals, it will find extensive application. This paper describes the different uses to which rubber wood is put to in India
