Abstract
When trees are planted with crops their special characters-some beneficial and others not so-have to be kept in view. Multipurpose trees are the choice of everyone. They can be planted for a wide range of end-uses. They also benefit the environment. Agroforestry requires greater management skills than pure agriculture or forestry. The interaction between climatic variation, soil and plant water potentials, and tree and crop properties must be carefully considered in designing agroforestry systems. The canopy architecture and processes play an important role in soil conservation
