Abstract

Based on the floristic survey and from available literature, a complete list of South Indian orchids have been enumerated and are arranged as per the latest classification of Dressler (1981) . The genera that represent the subfamily, tribes and subtribes from the Indian phytogeographic regions with special reference to Western Ghats alone are presented in this paper. Further exploration, conservation and development of orchid sanctuaries is emphasised
