Abstract

A progeny trial was established at Dehra Dun in July 1974 using seedlings raised from open-pollinated seeds collected from 13 trees of good phenotype - 10 from a stand in Tamil Nadu and 3 from Dehra Dun. Height was recorded every year from 1975 to 1978. There were significant differences in ht. between families in each year but the significance increased with age, some families being consistently superior at all ages. Heritability estimates were 19-21 for ages 1-3 yr and 34 at age 4 yr
