Abstract

Although neem [Azadirachta indica] cake is known to possess repellent effects against several insects, when mixed with soil it did not protect the roots of Eucalyptus tereticornis seedlings from attack by subterranean termites in field plots on sandy loam soil at Nilambur, Kerala. In fact, results obtained over 2 months, in which neem cake and deoiled neem cake were added at 50 and 100 g/kg soil, showed that seedling mortality due to termites was significantly greater in the neem cake treated plotsthan in the control untreated plots
