Abstract
The floral anatomy of Paphiopedilum insigne Pfitz. has been investigated. The 12 vascular bundles at the base of the pedicel which traverse upward through the ovary wall and are arranged in a discontinuous ring. Six of them, the laterals are larger while the other six smaller and these alternate. The six smaller bundles constitute the ventrals of the three carpels. Placental bundles are clearly observed. The marginal bundles of the lip are derived from the adjacent sepal marginals. The taxonomic status of the Cypripedioids is disscussed
