Abstract
Large-scale field trials were conducted in three representative areas in Kerala-Trichur, Nilambur and Wynad to test prophylactic insecticidal treatments for control of termites attacking eucalypt plantations. Bulk drenching of basketted seedlings with one litre of aldrin 30 EC per bed of 2, 500 seedlings gave adequate protection even after planting out, without the necessity for additional pit treatment. Not more than 1 of the treated seedlings were killed by termites compared to 4 to 24 of the untreated
