Abstract

The chapter reviews the clonal propagation techniques available for teak (Tectona grandis), Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) and Bamboo. A brief description of the biology, importance and methods of natural regeneration is given for each of the species. A state of the art review of the vegetative propagation and micropropagation methods reported around the world in these species are described. The research carried out at the National Chemical Laboratory (India) in the tissue culture of these species is accounted in greater detail. The chapter concludes with a comparison of the benefits of the conventional methods with micropropagation and discusses the future prospects in the area
