Abstract

Spike disease of sandal is the most serious disease affecting sandal in India. So far no control measures have been developed against the disease. Generally, the disease kills almost the entire sandal population in an infected area leaving very few survivors. A study has been conducted in the Marayur Forest Range of Kerala State in India for monitoring the field resistance of the disease survivors and clonally multiplying the trees for planting. The technique of vegetative propagation involves induction of root suckers, vegetative multiplication of juvenile root suckers and tissue culture
