Abstract

Fibre length, wood and bark density, bark percentage, and cellular proportions were measured to assess the suitability of D. pentagyna, from India, for dissolving pulp and paper-grade pulp. Weighted av. fibre length was 2. 7 mmthe longest fibre was 3. 7 mm. Av. basic density was 598. 6 kg/m3. There was considerable variation in fibre length and wood density both within and between trees
