Abstract

Soil properties in 0-100 cm layer of three different elevations 150 (E1), 750 (E2), and 1450 m (E3) above sea level in India were subjected to factor analysis. The soil properties analysed were: gravel, sand, pH, water holding capacity, organic carbon, cation exchange capacity, total N, P, and S. Factor analysis identified three factors in E1 and E3 and two factors in E2. In E1 and E3, three factors accounted for 70 and 78 percent variations, respectively. In E2, two factors accounted for 67 percent variation
