Abstract

Among the soil properties studied viz. gravel, sand, silt, clay, carbon, pH, exchange acidity, exchangeable bases, total N, P, K, Ca and Mg in Albizia falcataria plantations at Arippa and Kollathirumed, it is found that gravel is negatively correlated with most other soil properties. Organic carbon shows significant correlation with exchangeable bases and total N. The soils, in general, are fertile. Multiple Linear Regression analysis shows that tree height and girth at brease height (gbh) are significantly influenced by soil properties which account for 46 and 81 percent of variations in the height and gbh, respectively
