Abstract

This disease, caused by the R. solani state of Thanatephorus cucumeris, is responsible for high mortality of young seedlings in Kerala. Outbreaks occurred during the peak of the monsoon (June-Aug. 1982) when RH was 95. The disease is characterizedby a group of seedlings entangled by a web of mycelium originating initially from the soil. Pathogenicity was confirmed in the lab., 4-wk-old seedlings being more susceptible than those at 6 wk
