Abstract

An overview is presented of fungal and bacterial diseases of Casuarina equisetifolia in India. In nurseries, Rhizoctonia solani is an important pathogen, causing high mortality of seedlings. In plantations, the most economically important diseases are stem canker (caused by Phomopsis casuarinae) and blister bark disease (caused by Trichosporium vesiculosum)other diseases include pink disease (caused by Corticium salmonicolor), bacterial wilt (Pseudomonas solanacearum), heart and root rots, etc. Disease management strategies are discussed
