Abstract

Plants of two families out of the total 13 families in a progeny trial of Bambusa arundinacea in Kerala segregated for normal and albino plants in a 3: 1 Simple Mendelion ratio. Albino plants survived only upto 12-16 days after germination. It is suggested that the albino trait could be used as a genetic marker for estimating the degree of natural selfing and outcrossing in B. arundinacea
