Abstract

Five insecticides were tested for the control of larvae of Sahyadrassus malabaricus in plantations of teak (Tectona grandis) and Trema orientalis in Kerala, India, in 1979-82. The cover over the tunnel mouth and the larval feeding area was removed and the insecticides were brushed on. HCH (0. 5 a.i.) did not cause significant mortality while lindane, carbaryl and Sevimol [carbaryl] (all at 0. 5 a.i.) and tar concentrate caused significant mortality but did not give complete protection. Quinalphos (at 0. 125 a.i.) gave complete control
