Abstract

The effectiveness of bole injected chemicals for the control of the teak carpenter worm, Alcterogystia cadambae was field tested. High dosages of dimethoate, phosphamidon, monocrotophos (2 and 4 of the formulation) and acephate (as 97 Orthene) were used in the trials. No mortality of insects was noticed. The ineffectiveness of insecticides is attributed to the larval habit of feeding only at long intervals and remaining mostly in the heart wood where the bole injected chemicals hardly get diffused
